STEP 2: Go online to www.cf.edu to begin the college application and admissions process through the “Apply Now” link. Enroll in 7270 – Commercial Vehicle Driving as your program of study. There is a one-time, nonrefundable $30 application fee. You may also go to the Enrollment Services Center in Building 5 if you need assistance or have questions about the process.
STEP 3: To apply for financial assistance, you will need to complete a 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)with the U.S. Department of Education. To begin this process, go to www.pin.ed.gov and obtain a personal identification number. When you receive your PIN, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete the FAFSAapplication. STEP 6: Contact Mike Shuler, educational advisor, in Building 31 and present this completed checklist. Mr. Shuler will register you for the CDL training course based on the availability of space at that time. You will receive a student schedule and a fee statement.
The commercial vehicle driving course tuition and fees currently are $3,402.12 for Florida residents. Tuition and fees are subject to change. Payment in full is due 10 days after the date of registration or by the first day of the course, whichever date comes first. STEP 7: Obtain a temporary Class “A” CDL permit prior to the first day of class. The applicant is responsible for the cost of the permit. This is obtained by taking the written portion of the CDL exam at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
STEP 8: Schedule an appointment to take the commercial vehicle driver medical examination and drug screen with a qualified health care provider. It is recommended that the medical examination and drug screen be taken about two weeks prior to the start of the course. Drug screen results more than 30 days old will not be accepted. Applicants are responsible for payment of fees to the health care provider.
STEP 9: On your first day of class, you must bring your temporary Class “A” CDL permit, a copy of your commercial vehicle driver medical examination, your drug screen results, and a CF cashier’s receipt showing payment of any balance due for the course.
